NASA’s Sunita Williams’ health deteriorates; doctors concerned amid mysterious crew hospitalisation
Sunita Williams, a veteran astronaut and current International Space Station (ISS) commander, is reportedly in deteriorating health, and doctors are expressing concern over her condition.
Williams, 55, has been experiencing a range of symptoms, including fatigue, nausea, and headaches. Her condition has worsened in recent days, and she is now being closely monitored by medical staff at the ISS.
The cause of Williams’ illness is still unknown, but doctors are investigating several possible causes, including a viral or bacterial infection, or a reaction to the space environment.
Williams is a highly experienced astronaut, having logged over 322 days in space during four previous missions. She is also the second woman to command the ISS.
Her current illness is a reminder of the risks associated with space travel, and the importance of having a robust medical system in place to care for astronauts in orbit.
The ISS is currently home to seven astronauts, including Williams. The crew is scheduled to return to Earth in March 2023.
