Ian Healy slams Australian cricket team's 'pathetic' performance
Former Test wicketkeeper Ian Healy has slammed the Australian cricket team's "pathetic" performance in their one-day international series loss to Pakistan.
The Australians were comprehensively beaten 3-0 in the three-match series, with Pakistan winning the first match by 66 runs, the second match by 88 runs, and the third match by 25 runs.
Healy, who played 119 Tests for Australia, said the team's performance was "unacceptable" and that they need to "take a long, hard look at themselves".
"It was a pathetic performance from the Australian cricket team," Healy said.
"They were outplayed in every facet of the game by a Pakistan team that was clearly hungrier and more determined.
"The Australians need to take a long, hard look at themselves and ask themselves some tough questions about why they are performing so poorly."
Healy's comments come after a disappointing Ashes series, in which Australia lost 4-0 to England.
The Australians have now lost their last seven one-day internationals, and they are in danger of missing out on qualification for the 2023 World Cup.
Healy said the team needs to make some changes, both in terms of personnel and tactics, if they want to turn their form around.
"They need to find some players who are in form and who are willing to fight for their place in the team," Healy said.
"They also need to change their tactics. They are playing too defensively and they are not taking enough risks.
"If they don't make some changes, they are going to continue to struggle."
