Sukhu ka samosa, which wasn’t: Why Himachal CID is probing an order for CM

Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s order to supply 'samosas' to his official residence has landed in a controversy after it was found that the order was placed for 'samosas' but 'kachoris' were supplied instead.

The matter came to light after the bill for the order was submitted to the state assembly, which showed that 100 'samosas' were ordered for the chief minister's residence at a cost of Rs 1,200. However, when the order was delivered, it was found that the items supplied were 'kachoris' and not 'samosas'.

Following the discrepancy, the Himachal Pradesh Police's Crime Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the matter. The CID is probing the matter to ascertain whether there was any wrongdoing in the procurement process.

The order for 'samosas' was placed with a local caterer, who has been identified as one Rakesh Kumar. The caterer has claimed that he had supplied 'samosas' to the chief minister's residence, but the staff at the residence had refused to accept them, saying that they had ordered 'kachoris'.

The caterer has also claimed that he had been paid only Rs 600 for the order, even though the bill submitted to the state assembly showed that the order was for Rs 1,200.

The CID is investigating the matter and has recorded the statements of the caterer and the staff at the chief minister's residence. The CID is also examining the documents related to the order to ascertain whether there was any wrongdoing in the procurement process.

The investigation is ongoing and the CID is expected to submit its report soon.
