Allegations of Food Poisoning Spark Investigation
The Himachal Pradesh Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has initiated a probe into allegations of food poisoning involving samosas served to the security staff of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The incident occurred on January 24, 2023, at the Chief Minister's residence in Shimla.
Symptoms and Hospitalization
Several security personnel who consumed the samosas reported symptoms of food poisoning, including nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Four of them were admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) for treatment.
CID Investigation
The CID has registered a case under sections 272 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation aims to determine the source of the food poisoning, identify those responsible, and hold them accountable.
