Pakistan, India cricketers likely to play in same team as Afro-Asia Cup talks revived
Pakistan and India cricketers may finally get a chance to play in the same team as talks for the Afro-Asia Cup have been revived.
The Afro-Asia Cup was first played in 2005 and 2007 and featured teams from Africa and Asia.
The tournament was discontinued due to lack of sponsorship but there have been talks of reviving it for several years.
Now, it seems that those talks have finally come to fruition as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are reportedly in advanced talks to revive the tournament.
According to reports, the tournament is likely to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in March 2023.
The tournament will feature six teams, three from Africa and three from Asia.
The teams from Africa are likely to be South Africa, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
The teams from Asia are likely to be India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing each other once.
The top two teams from the round-robin stage will then advance to the final.
The Afro-Asia Cup is a great opportunity for cricketers from Africa and Asia to come together and compete against each other.
The tournament will also help to promote cricket in both regions.
The revival of the Afro-Asia Cup is a welcome development and it will be interesting to see how the tournament unfolds.
