Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Attends Chhath Puja Celebrations
Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the chief minister of Delhi, attended the Chhath Puja celebrations in the national capital on Wednesday. He offered prayers and performed rituals at the Yamuna Ghat along with other devotees.
Chhath Puja is a major Hindu festival celebrated in North India, especially in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. It is dedicated to the Sun God and his wife Usha. The festival spans over four days and involves rigorous fasting, bathing in the holy river, and offering prayers.
CM Kejriwal Extends Chhath Puja Greetings
Kejriwal extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Chhath Puja. He said that the festival is a symbol of faith and devotion and urged people to celebrate it with joy and gaiety.
"Chhath Puja is a festival that brings people together and strengthens the bonds of community. I wish everyone a happy and blessed Chhath Puja," Kejriwal said.
During his visit to the Yamuna Ghat, Kejriwal also interacted with the devotees and enquired about their well-being. He also took part in the 'arghya' ritual, where devotees offer prayers to the setting sun.
The AAP government in Delhi has made elaborate arrangements for the Chhath Puja celebrations. Special ghats have been set up along the banks of the Yamuna River, and security arrangements have been beefed up to ensure the safety of devotees.
